I was just thrilled to hear about the Christmas terrorist attack on NW 253. Just because the attack failed doesn’t mean it wasn’t an attack.
I AM overjoyed no one was seriously hurt (other than the scumbag, who deserves the emasculation). But since I will be heading to China soon, I’m less than enthusiastic the new “security” measures all the non-Islamist-terrorist passengers will have to endure, none of which will do any good. We had this guy dead to rights and he still made it on the plane and nearly succeeded. Here’s Maureen Dowd from the NYT:
If we can’t catch a Nigerian with a powerful explosive powder in his oddly feminine-looking underpants and a syringe full of acid, a man whose own father had alerted the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, a traveler whose ticket was paid for in cash and who didn’t check bags, whose visa renewal had been denied by the British, who had studied Arabic in Al Qaeda sanctuary Yemen, whose name was on a counterterrorism watch list, who can we catch?
Read the whole thing.
Back when I was really traveling all the time, I actually switched the type of shoes I wore to get through security quicker after the Shoe Bomber. I guess I should thank the TSA for that, since I love my Blundstones.
I wonder what new fashion accessories are next up after the Underwear Bomber…
Happy New Year
